Barbes Basketball

Nike Stadium and Piggale Paris have teamed up to set up the ‘Amateur Basketball Project’. For the first initiative Pigalle has chosen their local team Goutte d’Or from nearby Paris to remake their uniforms. The aim of the project is to support basketball teams that have both a strong sports and social background.

The Neche Collection

This is a cool profile on Veronica Corzo-Duchardt, the face behind Winterbureau, a Chicago-based creative studio. In order to celebrate her grandfather’s collection of ‘things’ she started The Neche Collection. The Collection consists of a daily post from the collection and a weekly screen print inspired by one or more of the objects featured from that week.

Swissted
‘Swissted is an ongoing project by NYC based graphic designer Mike Joyce. Drawing from his love of punk rock and Swiss modernism, two movements that have absolutely nothing to do with one another, Mike has redesigned vintage punk, hardcore, and indie rock show flyers into international typographic style posters. Each poster is sized to the standard Swiss kiosk dimensions of 35.5 inches wide by 50 inches high and set in Berthold Akzidenz Grotesk medium, all lowercase. Every single one of these shows actually happened.’

Real time Twitter visualizer made for CNN which reveals conversation aroundclimate change with the #cop17 hashtag.

curiositycounts:

A humorous visual reminder that correlation is not causation, reminiscent of How To Lie With Statistics and Alex Lundry’s excellent “Chart Wars” talk.

Word As Image

Created by Ji Lee, a designer at Facebook (previously Google). This is very good.

katybeale:

The internet is being tailored for us: @elipariser TED talk. ‘There are 57 signals that Google uses to personally tailor your search results’ says Eli, talking about the way the internet serves us information. No longer when we do a search on the internet are we getting the same results, no matter who we are.

This means that in all likelihood we are not being opened up to as many options as we had previously. Only those recommended to us via our previous interests or circle of friends or acquaintances. A cynic could say that the benefit is mainly for the advertisers and marketers who can now do very detailed behavioural campaigns.
